{"id":382,"date":"2010-03-27T22:27:50","date_gmt":"2010-03-27T22:27:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thechristys.net\/?p=382"},"modified":"2010-03-27T22:38:55","modified_gmt":"2010-03-27T22:38:55","slug":"econo-car","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/thechristys.net\/?p=382","title":{"rendered":"Econo Car"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/thechristys.net\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/03\/2011fordmustangv6.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" style=\"display: inline; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; border: 0px;\" title=\"2011-ford-mustang-v6\" src=\"http:\/\/thechristys.net\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/03\/2011fordmustangv6_thumb.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"2011-ford-mustang-v6\" width=\"601\" height=\"324\" align=\"left\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This is the 2011 Mustang.\u00a0 It has 305 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque.\u00a0 It has (not yet official) a 5 star safety rating .\u00a0 It goes 10,000 miles between oil changes and a choice of 6 speed manual or automatic transmissions.\u00a0 It has only 6 cylinders.\u00a0 It gets 19mpg in the city.\u00a0 It gets 30mpg on the highway.\u00a0 Are you kidding me?\u00a0 That is better than a 2007-2010 Toyota Camry!<\/p>\n<p>The pride of Japan was able to produce 268 horsepower and 248 lb-ft of torque, both respectable numbers but it only scored a .4 on the heartbeat monitor \u2013 barely above sleeping.<\/p>\n<p>Let me show you what one of those looks like.\u00a0\u00a0 Mmmmmm banality<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/thechristys.net\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/03\/camry.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" style=\"display: inline; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; border: 0px;\" title=\"camry\" src=\"http:\/\/thechristys.net\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/03\/camry_thumb.png\" border=\"0\" alt=\"camry\" width=\"333\" height=\"186\" align=\"right\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The pricing for the Mustang hasn\u2019t been released yet, but I believe it will cost <strong>less<\/strong> than the Camry at about $23K.<\/p>\n<p>I think this is pretty impressive progress in the US\u00a0auto industry.\u00a0 Don\u2019t get me wrong, I wouldn&#8217;t\u2019 want to strap my 3yr olds in the back of a Mustang and my mom wouldn&#8217;t fit either but a car this fun with this kind of economy, well . . . it just raised the bar for economy cars.<\/p>\n<p>By they way, this is the littlest brother of the family, the next one up is the GT which will have over 400hp and 400lb-ft of torque and the big nasty \u2013 Shelby GT500 with 550hp and 515lb-ft of torque.\u00a0 Isn\u2019t technology great?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It has only 6 cylinders.
