{"id":529,"date":"2010-06-03T15:54:01","date_gmt":"2010-06-03T20:54:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thechristys.net\/?p=529"},"modified":"2010-06-03T15:54:01","modified_gmt":"2010-06-03T20:54:01","slug":"are-we-there-yet","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/thechristys.net\/?p=529","title":{"rendered":"Are we there yet?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We have all been on family trips, some better than others.\u00a0 Most adults look back on their childhood trips with an odd combination of nostalgia, loathing and fondness.\u00a0 Most familys go through what I like to call the 5 stages of tripping.<\/p>\n<p>Stage 1: Excitement &#8211; Let&#8217;s do it, it will be great!<\/p>\n<p>Stage 2: Planning &#8211; Where, When, how will be pay for it, What were we thinking, Why???<\/p>\n<p>Stage 3: The Trip &#8211; The kids skip stage 2 so stage 3 starts with good feelings and high expectations for them.\u00a0 At this point the Adults\u00a0question if\u00a0they could have skipped stage 2 as well.\u00a0 All does not go as planned but, it&#8217;s still kind of fun but the surprises are disruptive and annoying.<\/p>\n<p>Stage 4: The Wrap-up &#8211; After the\u00a0trip is over it&#8217;s generally agreed that\u00a0it wasn&#8217;t too bad, everyone is pretty satisfied.\u00a0 Even some of the anoying things were kind of funny.<\/p>\n<p>Stage 5: The Memories &#8211; Otherwise known as the big payoff.\u00a0 Looking back it is discovered it is one of the best trips ever, we\u00a0got to do all kinds of things, tourist stuff and things off the beaten path.\u00a0 It really wasn&#8217;t that expensive compared to what we got out of it.\u00a0 This experience will enable the parents to consider the next trip.\u00a0 The kids when they have families will hold this up as a standard propelling them headlong into Phase 1 of their own trip.\u00a0 Thus is the circle of vacations.<a href=\"http:\/\/thechristys.net\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/Pedouins.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-530\" title=\"The Pedouins\" src=\"http:\/\/thechristys.net\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/Pedouins.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"349\" srcset=\"http:\/\/thechristys.net\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/Pedouins.jpg 400w, http:\/\/thechristys.net\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/Pedouins-300x261.jpg 300w, http:\/\/thechristys.net\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/Pedouins-150x130.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a title=\"This Family\" href=\"http:\/\/www.pedouins.org\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">This family<\/a>\u00a0is different.\u00a0 Actually in some ways they are completly average and typical but their ability to think up Stage 1, skip Stage 2, complete Stage 3 and 4 in parrallel and have a Stage 5 so compelling that 1000s of people want to live vicariouslly through them, makes the extraordinary.\u00a0 You think your marathon trip to Florida in the back of the family Chevy was gruling?\u00a0 Your hike down the Grand Canyon and back was hard?\u00a0 You need to click on the link above.\u00a0 The Pedouins (that&#8217;s the Family&#8217;s name) have a tag line &#8211; One family, two wheels, 7000 miles.\u00a0 Mom, Dad and 3 girls ages 3, 5 and 7 on a 5 seater bike.\u00a0 Prepair to be inspired.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We have all been on family trips, some better than others.
