\"\"<\/a>Linda and I are going to another concert.\u00a0 We will be hanging out with The Whigs, The Black Keys and the Kings of Leon when they\u00a0 play in the outdoor venue The Cynthia Woods Pavilion in the Woodlands later this month.\u00a0 I like all 3 of these bands and have provided a sample below for your listening pleasure.\u00a0 My wife is not familiar with these particular musicians but encouraged me to get us tickets.\u00a0 She prefers Niel Diamond over Nine Inch Nails and often must be physically retrained when KC and the Sunshine Band are played at social events, but she is looking forward to going to hear these young rockers.\u00a0 Why you ask?\u00a0 Well, some people are just like that, they like having a good time, trying new things and just going for it in general.\u00a0 Oh yes, I know what you are thinking, not the CPA Linda, not the Linda of a certan age, not OUR<\/em> Li\"\"<\/a>nda.\u00a0 Well you would be wrong!<\/p>\n

\u00a0Linda and I met in college, a college with student entertainment opportunities 2nd to none.\u00a0 Movies, concerts, speakers even keg parties were sponsored and paid for by the school (unwitting parents).\u00a0 One of the many concerts offered to us was a Bruce Springsteen event in 1978.\u00a0\u00a0The Boss\u00a0was at the top of his game, Linda had heard of him but didn’t really know his music and of course she was all in\u00a0and couldn’t wait\u00a0to go.\u00a0 We had seats in the 11th row center section.\u00a0 At some point in the 4 hour show the band broke into the soon to be classic “Tenth Avenue Freeze Out”.\u00a0 \"\"<\/a>Everyone jumped up on their chairs and joined in with the chorus including Linda and I.\u00a0\u00a0I think it was\u00a0the greatest concert I have ever seen.\u00a0 Linda was an instant fan.\u00a0 Several days after the show in one of the many conversations we had recounting the epic event Linda asked me the song where we were all standing on the chairs screaming something.\u00a0 I said, 10 Avenue Freeze Out?\u00a0 She said, is THAT<\/em> what they were saying!<\/p>\n

\u00a0At the time I thought this was very funny.\u00a0 How could you get so into it and not even know the words?\u00a0 But do you know what?\u00a0 It’s not about the words.\u00a0 What the hell does 10th avenue freeze out mean anyway?\u00a0 It was about the emotion and the energy and getting into it.\u00a0 She got it and\u00a0was all in – an I think that is very cool.\u00a0 So when the Kings are whipping the Houston crowd into a frenzy, I will have already heard all their songs, know much of their history, even know some of their lyrics but I really look forward to looking over at Linda with her fist in the air shouting “Your Sex is On Fire! ” . . . or something close to that.<\/p>\n
