{"id":1232,"date":"2012-11-19T08:47:14","date_gmt":"2012-11-19T14:47:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thechristys.net\/?p=1232"},"modified":"2012-11-19T08:47:14","modified_gmt":"2012-11-19T14:47:14","slug":"there-is-someting-i-havent-been-telling-you","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thechristys.net\/?p=1232","title":{"rendered":"There is someting I haven&#8217;t been telling you"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright\" title=\"new kayak\" src=\"https:\/\/lh4.googleusercontent.com\/-vsFCvGKcUgs\/UJsoD3GvamI\/AAAAAAAAFec\/MBt1IxnQ-XA\/s817\/DSCN0078.JPG\" alt=\"\" width=\"491\" height=\"367\" \/>I just told you about my new camera which I got a few weeks ago. \u00a0Hey, how\u00a0interesting\u00a0is it to write a post saying I got a new camera but I don&#8217;t know what it does or if it&#8217;s any good? \u00a0Once I used it for a while I was able to add some value beyond the marketing blurb written by Nikon about the camera.<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Well there is something else I have been testing. \u00a0A new kayak. \u00a0All my other kayaks were used when I got them. \u00a0I think this is a good ideal for someone just starting out because they don&#8217;t know if they will really like it or not. \u00a0With a used one you often get accessories you would otherwise have to buy\u00a0separately\u00a0like a paddle and seat. \u00a0And it&#8217;s already scratched up so you won&#8217;t sweat the first oyster gouging.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>My old war horse of a kayak the Malibu X-Factor has been in the shop twice being\u00a0repaired\u00a0(none of the damage my doing). \u00a0As I was adding a high tech fish measuring device (a piece of tape with a ruler on it), I noticed another crack, and then another, and then another. \u00a0They could be fixed and who knows how long I have been using it like that but it was time to move on.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>I have attended almost every &#8220;demo day&#8221; that was offered by the kayak shops here in Houston for the last few years. \u00a0Even though I had one, then two boats of my own, I kept track of what was new and what I liked. \u00a0So, when I had to make a quick decision on which boat to get, I already knew what was on the top of my list. \u00a0A 2013 Wilderness Systems Ride 135 . . . . in mango.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>I ordered from my favorite kayak retailer &#8211; ACK, the Angler Addition and the rudder which comes with 2 built in rod holders, and extra movable rod holder up front and an anchor. \u00a0However, they shipped me the regular\u00a0addition which was just the boat plus the rudder. \u00a0I called them up and they refunded the difference and shipping as a we&#8217;re sorry gesture. \u00a0Now I have\/get to outfit the boat exactly as I want it. \u00a0I would have been happy with the stock angler rigging but I also knew I could improve upon it given the chance. \u00a0Well  , I have that chance and have been struggling with all the possibilities.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft\" title=\"ready to go\" src=\"https:\/\/lh6.googleusercontent.com\/-94BPI1Kgx-I\/UJ09WF72pGI\/AAAAAAAAFfs\/LkuJr6BQFiM\/s817\/DSCN0084.JPG\" alt=\"\" width=\"490\" height=\"368\" \/><\/div>\n<div>BUT, the boat itself is fantastic. \u00a0I love it. \u00a0It paddles great, doesn&#8217;t feel tippy, has plenty of room and a comfortable seat. \u00a0It also looks\u00a0fabulous. \u00a0The only down side seems to be that it&#8217;s HEAVY. \u00a0It was also very cool having a kayak delivered by 18 wheeler.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Soon I will get up the nerve to make my final rod holder accessory decision and drill and cut into my new boat. \u00a0See you on the water, I will be the one in the new Ride.<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I just told you about my new camera which I got a few weeks ago.
