Last weekend Linda and I flew east to attend Linda’s nephew’s wedding in Alabama (more on that in the next post). We took a couple of extra days and went to Panama City.
Linda found us a really nice place to stay called the Marriott Bay Point Resort. One of our favorite features of the resort was the GIANT boardwalk that went from the hotel pool to a restaurant, private beach and boat rental dock. In the picture we are standing on the boardwalk looking back to the resort. Because of this amenity i had to take a fishing rod.
We took a boat to Shell Island where there are no hotels, no cars, not even any houses, just beach and ocean. We also went to St. Andrews State Park which was the nicest beach state park we have been to.
Of course there was Sonny’s BBQ and a little breakfast place – Andy’s Flour Power Cafe which had fabulous food and excellent service. Ask Linda about her Surf n Turf omelet or frittata. I can vouch for the French Toast.

One evening we took a ride over to St. Joe, a small town on the coast where Florida panhandle begins. It was an interesting place, I would like to go back sometime. The weather was great and we had a wonderful time.
The second picture shows me fishing off the resort’s private beach with the State park in the background
