Presenting . . . . Miss Sarah Hope Christy!
This past weekend our oldest graduated from Texas A&M with her bachelors degree in Accounting. We are very proud of her. She was one of 6500 Aggies receiving a degree this spring. Next step, University of Houston graduate program and the CPA exam. When that is complete there will be some major Sallying going on.
We always knew Sarah would go to college, what she did in college, what she studied and if she would graduate were not so well understood. I have to say, it all worked out in the end. She has drunk deeply from the cup and embraced “the full college experience”. Please join me in congratulating Sarah.
I thought you might like to know. The first picture of Sarah and I holding hands is not from Graduation. If you go back and look at August 2006 you will see the same picture from Freshman Convocation.
When Sarah was about four she was concerned about going away to college and living on her own, so she asked me if I would hold her hand when she went to college. At the Convocation I reminded her of this and she very obligingly held my hand.
Little did I know that there would be lots more hand holding, through ridiculously hard classes, unfair professors, untenable roommates, and not one, not two, but three separate phone calls of Dude Where’s my Car, or in Sarah’s case, “My car has been stolen!”. Any of you who have college students and know that your first response is, “Was it illegally parked?” To Sarah’s dismay, her car was always located in a towing lot.
We are very proud of her and the wonderful young woman she has become. And Bob says, don’t worry, the hand holding will never end!
Yes, it’s all true http://thechristys.net/?p=174
Wow!! Congratulations!!
You know, I didn’t comment much on this post, but I have come back to it once or twice. I remember the first time I met Sarah. It was in your house in Boca. I guess she was about 2 and she had a small bowl of ice cream. She seemed so grown up.
Although this is not Katie’s post, I remember driving to your house one day and it started to rain, and Katie and Linda were frantically riding their bikes home. Katie was about 3 I think. I put her bike in my truck and gave her a ride home (Katie – not Linda).
I also remember the girls at our wedding.
